WPS are being recognized for their efforts with an award from the Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police Service is getting an award from the Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
They are being recognized for having the highest percentage increase in gross revenue. Since 2011 the Woodstock Police Officers and Police Auxiliary in conjunction with local Special Olympians have organized and raised nearly $6,000. Special Constable and Auxiliary Staff Sergeant Deb Klemp tells Heart FM the Torch run is something they look forward to every year.
"These individuals are so incredible, if anybody ever has a chance to just be part of a little piece of this, they just win you over, they are incredible they are dedicated, they work so hard trying to the best they can do and they always give 210 percent, if they fall down they get right back up and really are inspirational."
Klemp will be accepting the award in York Region on Saturday January 30th and says it really is an honour.
"This is a pretty cool recognition because each year we try and sell t-shirts and do some events that can fundraise and the money goes through the law enforcement torch run which the Ontario Association of the Chiefs of Police totally supports and are big supporters of."
