The Zonta Club of Woodstock will be hosting a carnival-themed International Women's Day celebration at the Columbo Club in Beachville.
WOODSTOCK/BEACHVILLE - International Women's Day is fast approaching and the Zonta Club of Woodstock is planning to celebrate.
President Pat Fray says they will be hosting a carnival-themed event at the Columbo Club in Beachville on Friday March 8th.
"The whole idea is you go there, you can pop in or stay for the whole three hours. You will be able to watch and actually be involved, dance if you want, and then you can do a little shopping. We also have some fabulous door prizes, the Oxford Hills has donated a spa package and we have some really big door prizes, but those are surprises!"
There will be live performances from Jenna Kayln, Kelsey Logan, and Dance In Style Studio. There will also be a cash bar and 10 vendors on site.
The event is for people over the age of 16 and it runs from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. that evening. Tickets can be purchased for $20 online through Eventbrite.
Maria Odumodu, a member of the Zonta Club of Woodstock, says all of the funds raised will support Zonta's international efforts to prevent girls from getting married too young.
"It's happening in Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Mozambique, Nepal, Niger, Sierra Leonne, Uganda, Yemen, and Zambia. That's where we are working for the next two years with whatever funds we raise."
Pat Fray and Maria Odumodu stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Friday February 23rd. You can listen to the full interview below:
