CASS is one of the only schools in Ontario to offer students the opportunity to learn about HVAC.
WOODSTOCK - The light is being shed on a program in Woodstock.
College Ave Secondary School has a unique opportunity for students to learn and obtain their G3 Gas Licence. Department Head of Technology at CASS, Jason Campbell, says it has been around for 25 years, and it is one of a kind.
"For the longest time, it was the only one in Ontario, but I think there might be one now east of Toronto that's doing it."
Campbell adds that after high school, a student would sign up for an apprenticeship and gain work experience at a heating and air conditioning business or a gas company. He also mentions another great perk of the program.
"And the unique thing about it is that the students get the opportunity to write their G3 gas license. And normally that's a college program."
Students have lots of opportunities because the school has strong connections in the skilled trades sector, a robust co-op program, and a partnership with Fanshawe College.
