Zorra residents past and present who have served our country are being honoured with a special website. The Heroes of Zorra site will launch next month and will feature more than one thousand profiles of people either born in or who lived in Zorra and fought for our freedom. Heroes of Zorra Chair Shirley McCall-Hanlon says they went with a tribute website because they figured it would be a medium that would best reach younger generations. "This is an attempt to attract young people to have a better understanding of what happened back in World War I, World War II, and a lot of them will be pleasantly, I think, surprised to recognize family members". McCall-Hanlon says the website started back in January. She says the Heroes of Zorra committee have been very fortunate that local history books had a lot of the information they needed for the site. The website (www.heroesofzorra.ca) will officially launch August 17, 2013.
