County to look at increasing cost of bag tags from $1.50 up to $2 by 2016
Oxford residents may want to start thinking about ways to cut down on their waste as the cost of bag tags may soon rise.
Director of Public Works Rob Walton will be presenting his proposed budget Monday asking council to set their streams of revenue which could include an increase in bag tag fees from $1.50 to $2 by 2016.
"We'd have a series of incremental raises in the prices of bag tags which would start next July in 2014 with it going to $1.75 with two more raises after that. That will be discussed as part of the budget process."
According to a new report released to County Council Wednesday, under current status quo conditions, bag tag fees would have to increase to a minimum
of $2.19 per tag to remove 100% of the costs associated with curbside garbage collection.
