122 runners came out for the inaugural Run Ingersoll: Sprint Into Summer in support of the Fusion Youth Centre.
INGERSOLL - The inaugural Run Ingersoll:Sprint Into Summer brought in $4 000 for the Fusion Youth Centre.
Manager of the Fusion Youth Centre Jason Smith says all that money is going to a good cause. "The dollars raised from the run will go back into the programs at the Youth Centre and directly back to the youth in Ingersoll. It goes to our general programs so allows us to continue to run our technology, recreation, arts and culture, and life skills programs."
122 runners came out for the event, despite the gloomy weather. Smith says the support is encouraging,"We're excited - the team of community volunteers, there's about 8 or 9 that sit on the committee - are gearing up for next year and looking forward to a much better year and hopefully we don't get rained out."
A new record was set in the Erie Thames Powerline 5K Run - Paul Rochus completed the run in 16:06; beating the old record by over a minute. His brother Michael Rochus also came out a winner, finishing the Tremblett's Independent 10K in just 38:42
