East Zorra Tavistock is recognizing those people who sink hours of their own time into improving our community.
INNERKIP - East Zorra Tavistock is getting set to host their annual Community Appreciation Event.
On June 14th they will be celebrating local volunteers and recognizing selfless achievements in the community. Innerkip Councillor and event organizer Jeremy Smith says they will handing out the Senior of the Year Awards.
"We collected nominations from local service groups on an annual basis for this award and this year two seniors from East Zorra Tavistock will be honoured with an award."
Smith says it is an evening of kinship and kudos.
"That really invites all volunteers, community builders, the public at large to come and celebrate community with community. It was held last year in Tavistock, this year in Innerkip and in 2018 it will be held in Hickson."
Smith adds, “It gives us all an opportunity to formally recognize and offer thanks to friends and neighbours who dedicate their time and effort to making a difference. It’s an important element to the fabric of community anywhere”.
It's all happening on Wednesday June 14th at the Innerkip Community Centre from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. and they will have some light snacks and refreshments.
