The 3rd Annual Baby Alex Teddy Bear Drive was a huge success. A goal of 1,000 stuffed animals was set, but the number was far exceeded. Toyota Boshuko alone raised a total of $3,340, which comes out to over 650 stuffed animals. Human Resources Manager Gloria Chisholm said everyone at the plant was eager to give. "I want to say a special thank-you to all of our team members because we collected all this money within two days. We just did a blitz, and got everyone signed off. They're always willing to give back, they never cease to amaze us," said Chrisholm. All stuffed animals go to the Children?s Health Foundation in London and the Woodstock Hospital Foundation. The drive is held each year in memory of Baby Alexander Fleming. Four years ago on Thanksgiving Monday, he was killed in a drunk driving accident at four months old. Bonita Purtill faces close to seven years behind bars for this impaired driving and criminal negligence causing the death of Baby Alex. It serves as a reminder for everyone to drive safe and sober this holiday Monday.
