A big shake-up at Ingersoll Town Hall. Economic Director Development Director Bill Mates and Finance Director Gary Seitz have both "resigned". However, it looks like the Town's Council and Administration were ready to make a move in both departments, and the Directors decided to resign. In the case of the town's Treasurer, Mayor Ted Comiskey says they need a fresh look at the books, as the town is facing huge challenges in the next 5-years. "At this point in time, we needed someone else in there and this was a situation where he said 'That's cool, that's great' and he resigned yesterday." In the case of Mates (in photo on right), Comiskey says there weren't any major underlying issues, but they are wanting to return the portfolio to focusing on land development. "Bring that back into perspective, where we have an economic development department that is going to looking strictly at the development of the lands we have and the hopeful boundary adjustments we'll have in the future. We won't have a head of economic development right now for a short period of time, but that will be short period of time, because there are a lot of things happening." Comiskey added there were some concerns that the "Economic Development" department at the town had continually taken on added jobs and responsiblities, like tourism, culture and the museum that were not really in the Economic Development realm. The town's CAO, Darrell Parker has been looking at a reorganization, with town council, along with a consultant. Heart FM will have more details on this developing story, as they become available.
