You'll be able to spot the purple bench on Centre Street in Drumbo, close to the splash pad.
DRUMBO - The Township of Blandford-Blenheim now has its very own purple bench.
This is all through the Purple Bench campaign, which started in Nova Scotia and made its way to Oxford County. A woman who was in an abusive relationship would sit on park benches as a way to get some space, so her family started this campaign to help shine a light on gender-based violence.
The Blandford-Blenheim's bench is located at 41 Centre Street in Drumbo, close to the splash pad. The big unveiling was held this past Wednesday with Mayor Mark Peterson, DASO Executive Director Diane Harris, and Township Councillors Daryl Barnes, Tina Young, Nancy Demarest, and Bruce Banbury in attendance.
