A Brantford 99er has been convicted following a fight that occurred on the ice at the Community Complex over 2 years ago.
WOODSTOCK - It has been 2 years in the making but a Brantford teen has been convicted after an altercation occurred on the ice between a Brantford 99er and a player from the Woodstock Junior Navy Vets.
The teen who cannot be named due to being a youth attacked Navy Vets player, Nick Major, after he snowed the goalie which is a sign of disrespect. The accused proceeded to punch Majors over 10 times while he covered his face lying on the ice, that left him with a severe broken nose, and concussion like symptoms. The 99er who at times showed his displeasure for the verdict in a Woodstock Courtroom this morning, mainly remained expressionless.
Judge Graham referred to the case as an intentional retaliatory attack, and stated that no athlete should be involved in malicious attacks by adding that the 99er was fueled by anger and frustration. The incident that took place in January of 2013 and will once again appear in a Woodstock Courtroom on April 15th.
