The first budget meeting for the new Ingersoll Town Council will be taking place at 6:00 p.m. tonight.
INGERSOLL - Budget talks are about to get underway in the Town of Ingersoll.
A special meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. this evening, so council can look over the proposed operating and capital budgets for 2023. Mayor Brian Petrie says 2023 will be a big year for the town.
"We have seen unprecedented economic development growth in 2022 and we expect that to continue. With the 400,000 square foot addition to CAMI, the 250,000 square foot development of DOT Foods, and the 120,000 square foot development of Carson Co. already underway, the town must ensure it is ready for the next wave of industrial development."
As of right now, the first draft of the capital budget sets aside $7-million in order to rehabilitate and replace municipal assets. This includes $300,000 for the new Multi-Use Rec Centre.
The first draft of the operating budget is $17.56-million. It also includes a 2.22 percent increase to the tax levy, which means the tax rate would increase by 0.92 percent.
Council will meet again on January 30th to discuss the capital budget and on February 23rd to discuss the operating budget. Those who wish to present a delegation must submit their request to clerks@ingersoll.ca by 4:00 p.m. on the Wednesday before the meeting.
