OPP charge driver of charter bus and four passersby during crash on 401 Tuesday afternoon.
OXFORD COUNTY -- A collision involving a charter bus from Ohio closed down the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 at Oxford Road 29 for several hours Tuesday afternoon.
According to OPP, the bus was carrying 30 grade 8 students with 3 adult chaperones on their way to Toronto.
There were minor injuries and one chaperone was transported to a local hospital. All school age children were treated and released at the scene.
OPP have charged the driver of the bus, 71 year-old Thomas Peters of Sharpsville Pennsylvania with Careless Driving.
Four additional charges were handed out to passersby who were taking photos of the scene on a handheld device. Each of those drivers received a charge of Drive Motor Vehicle with hand held communication device.
