Good news for CAMI Automotive. GM has officially announced the Ingersoll manufacturing plant will exclusively build a luxury model of the popular GMC Terrain. The Terrain Denali is expected to start production in the fall at CAMI. It's added job security for the 2700 workers at the plant, according to CAW Local 88 Chair Mike Van Boekel. "It definitely doesn't hurt, anytime you're getting more volume, it's always good for job security. The concern is always still there if a plant starts making one of your vehicles, but anytime you're front and centre with GM and getting awarded, even a niche vehicle, it's always a good thing, and a good reflection on our membership." The Denali model offers some high end features like chrome finishes, french stitching and leather seats. The announcement will not add any new jobs at the plant, which is currently running at capacity, building vehicles 24-hours a day, 6-days a week.
