OXFORD COUNTY - Canada Road Safety Week is in full swing.
The West Region OPP is using this week to keep an eye on drivers making poor and careless decisions behind the wheel. Officers have already responded to 80 fatal car crashes this year, resulting in 93 deaths across the province.
Sergeant Ed Sanchuk posted a video with Staff Sergeant Steve Smith on the OPP West Region X page yesterday. Smith said officers would be focusing on the Big Four causes of collisions this week.
"Those include impaired driving, please, if you're going to drive, drive sober, Speeding and aggressive driving, take your time, get to where you're going safely, seat belts, always buckle up, it takes a couple seconds and distracted driving, set down your cell phones, stay focused on the road, get to where you're going safely."
The campaign began yesterday and will continue through the long weekend, ending on the holiday Monday.
