The best of the best in the bowling world are descending on Woodstock this weekend. C&D Lanes are hosting the Canadian National World Cup Finals today and tomorrow. Owner Carol Skillings is encouraging the public to come and check out the action. "I strongly suggest you come out and see how the game is supposed to be played. These people really know how to throw the ball and we're making it tough on them. The shot out there is not going to be your average Saturday night come bowling kind of shot. For these people to hook a ball they're really going to have to work for it". The competitors from across Canada are looking to represent the country at the World's in Russia coming up in November. Skillings says the top 9 men and top 9 women are competing. "18 bowlers; 8 provinces, men and women each represented and last year's Canadian winners are seated automatically back in to the competition this weekend". The event kicks off this afternoon with the Opening Ceremonies. "Saturday the bowlers will be here for one o'clock for Opening Ceremonies and they'll be bowling Saturday all day until about supper time. And then they'll do their finals on Sunday another eight game block with a step ladder finish which should be very exciting for everybody to watch to see who is going to go to Russia". C&D Lanes is located at the corner of Mill Street and Main Street in Woodstock.
