Police are warning the public about a Carbon Tax Rebate Scam that is making the rounds locally.
STRATFORD - Stratford Police are warning the public about a Carbon Tax Rebate Scam.
Several residents have received calls by someone offering help with obtaining the new Carbon Tax Rebate. The scammer is really just trying to get your personal information.
Please remember to never provide personal information over the phone, specifically regarding your bank account, credit card, or
social insurance number. If you receive a phone call of this nature, be advised that it is a scam.
The Stratford Police is recommending that you hang up the phone and report the incident to the Canadian Ant-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501. If you have been a victim of this, or any other fraud, and suffered a monetary loss please contact the Stratford Police Service at 519-271-4141.
