VON Oxford staff and volunteers are being honoured during VON week
WOODSTOCK - It's VON week and a great time to honour the men and women who work and volunteer at VON Oxford.
Today the VON hosted two Open Houses at the Sakura House and their main office in Woodstock. Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch was on hand for both events and says we are lucky to have the VON team in Woodstock and talked about how Sakura House and the difference it makes.
"For anyone who has had relatives come through these doors, they know that the type of care that is offered by both the staff and the volunteers is second to none and gives dignity and respect to all."
Chair of the Oxford VON Board John Goodbun says VON Oxford also offers a number of programs in the community for seniors including meals on wheels and smart exercise and falls prevention services.
"We have meals of wheels program, bereavement services, adult day programs, smart exercise and falls prevention services, care giver support and education, safety reassurance and of course this beautiful home, Sakura House that gives an offer to alternate end of life care."
People are encouraged to share their experiences with VON this week on social media using the #myVONstory hashtag.
