OXFORD - Phone lines for the Oxford OPP detachments in Ingersoll and Tillsonburg will be making a change to their hours in the new year.
Effective January 1, they will be open to the public and administrative phones will be answered Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Oxford OPP say they continue to receive calls for police assistance on the office answering machine after hours, and this often causes response delays outside of normal office hours.
OPP want to remind everyone that 9-1-1 is the number for urgent, emergency calls, however if someone has a non-urgent need for police but would still like to report an incident or speak with an officer, they should dial the toll-free number 1-888-310-1122 or *677 from a cell phone.
That number will connect you to the OPP Communications Centre, who will direct the call appropriately.
You can also make online reports at opp.ca/reporting.
