The Library Board of Governance has been shortened from nine to seven members.
OXFORD COUNTY - There are now seven members who will sit on the Oxford County Library Board of Governance.
Council reduced the amount of board members from nine to seven during a meeting on February 13th.
Warden Larry Martin says the board had trouble getting a quorum in the past with nine members, so they've shortened the number of members.
"Originally there was a nine member board and they were having a problem with it getting a quorum, so basically they've downsized it to seven, so four is now a quorum as opposed to five."
Martin says the next steps will be to select applicants to appoint as new members of the board, which will be handled by the Striking Committee.
"The Striking Committee will meet and go through the applications that we got and they'll make a recommendation to council as to who those council members should be, and there'll be discussion at that meeting at that time."
The board will be made up of four county council members and three members from the public.
There are still other items being reviewed and discussed, including whether Oxford County Council can be approved, under the Public Libraries Act, as the new library board.
