As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old and 46-year-old Woodstock resident, a 28-year-old from Chatham, and a 22-year-old from Ingersoll are facing a total of 12 charges.
WOODSTOCK - Charges have been laid after four Woodstock Police Service members were assaulted while attempting to break up multiple fights downtown Woodstock.
Around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to reports of a disturbance at a licensed establishment on Dundas Street in Woodstock. When they arrived at the scene, police investigated the disturbance and maintained crowd control in the area.
While police were investigating, a physical altercation broke out around 2:35 a.m. Police intervened and separated the individual groups. Police remained on scene in an attempt to keep the peace while groups of people were leaving the establishment.
A second physical altercation broke out leading to the assault of the Woodstock Police Service members.
As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old and 46-year-old Woodstock resident, a 28-year-old from Chatham, and a 22-year-old from Ingersoll are facing a total of 12 charges, including:
- Causing a Disturbance,
- Assault a Peace Officer,
- Resisting a Peace Officer,
- Obstructing a Peace Officer, and
- Mischief Under $5000 – destroys or damages property.
