Former Woodstock Chamber GM Martha Dennis is facing theft and fraud charges.
WOODSTOCK - The former General Manager of the Woodstock Chamber is now facing criminal charges.
Woodstock Police have confirmed that Martha Dennis will face one count of theft over $5,000 and one count of fraud over $5,000.
Current Woodstock Chamber President Bob Armstrong says the Chamber is happy that things are moving forward with the situation.
"She has been served civilly as well as her charges laid by the crown. We are happy that it is proceeding, we are happy that the police are doing their due diligence in making this happen and we are hoping there is an end in sight."
The Woodstock Chamber of Commerce held their AGM on Wednesday, releasing their annual operations report, in it were two extraordinary items listed, one for $30,068 in 2016 and $37,189 in 2015.
In the report the extraordinary item is detailed as the following;
"During 2016 the organization detected irregular activity by the former general manager which resulted in misappropriation of the organizations's assets for expenses not related to the operations of the Chamber. The 2015 comparative balances presented in these statements have been restated to reflect the same activity which occurred in that fiscal year."
The investigation began when the Woodstock Chamber fired Dennis on August 12th of 2016 because of the fraudulent allegations.
