Salvation Army Christmas Kettles are starting to pop up in the Friendly City.
WOODSTOCK - The Salvation Army has started their Christmas Kettle campaign in Woodstock.
Volunteers will be stationed at 9 different locations across the Friendly City this holiday season. Major Naomi Dalley says they rely on the money from the kettles to support a number of programs.
"We use the funds raised for the Christmas Hampers to provide the food and all the fixings that go in the hampers but the kettles also funds our food bank and other services throughout the year. This fundraising campaign is a fairly significant part of our budget, because we don't do other campaigns throughout the year, other than food drives."
Dalley says they also need volunteers to man the kettles this year.
"We are always looking for volunteers to help us cover all the spots, so if people are available for a 2 hour shift, they need to give us a call at our church office at 519-539-5345 and someone will be happy to set them up with a kettle shift."
