Woodstock City Council is in favour of bringing a BINGO parlour back to Woodstock. A location for the charitable game was presented at the city council meeting Thursday. Robert Dowd brought the idea forward, having 25 years experience in the industry. "There's no BINGO Hall here, it's a vibrant community, and seems to be one of the few that's really growing. The Springbank Plaza is right on the edge of a large residential area and we just think it's a great location." Dowd wants to renovate the former Home Hardware store on Springbank as a future BINGO Hall. He believes he will get the support of the OLG for the facility. "The Ontario Government, through the OLG, has come up with a process for helping to modernize and enhance charitable gaming. So that means we'll be able to use some computerized equipment that we currently are not able to use." After the city's endorsement, Dowd will look to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission to get a final approval.
