A close to $660,000 federal/provincial grant will fund renovations to seven social housing buildings, infection control measures to ambulances and replace some of the windows at the Oxford County Courthouse.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Council has decided what to do with federal and provincial grant money earmarked for infrastructure and long term care.
The County applied for the infrastructure funding and was given a $659,881 federal/provincial grant and a $182,700 long-term care sector grant recently. The nearly $660,000 will be spent on renovations at seven social housing buildings, infection control modifications to ambulances and window replacements at the County Courthouse.
The $182,000 the County received for the long-term care sector grant will be spent on COVID-19 related building modifications at all three Woodingford Lodge sites.
Warden Larry Martin says some of this work had already been budgeted.
"It's and 80/20 split, Provincial and Federal aid and there is no matching dollars required by the County. Some of the things that we are doing were in the budget anyway and some weren't in the budget, but they were things that need to be done and if we can get the funding, then why not move forward with that."
