Another round 1 playoff exit has Sheldon Keefe fired from the Toronto Maple Leafs.
TORONTO - It was another disappointing playoff performance for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The team suffered their fourth first-round exit in the 5 seasons under Sheldon Keefe. As a result, the team has decided to part ways with Keefe. The search for a new head coach will start immediately, and the front office says decisions on the remainder of the coaching staff will come in the coming days.
The decision was made today and the tenure of Keefe came to an end before his new contract had a chance to begin. His previous deal was set to expire at the end of this season, but the team signed him to an extension of two years on August 30th.
