OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Council will not be meeting in person again in 2020.
They voted to keep doing virtual meetings for now until they can purchase the equipment needed to host in person meetings safely. Warden Larry Martin says the earliest he could see in person meetings resume is in the New Year.
"We did have a letter from Southwestern Public Health with all the parameters we would have to meet. It's not an overnight process, there are securities and safeguards that we have to abide by. I think we can do this with relatively low funds, the problem is trying to get the equipment to get it installed and get it up and running."
Martin says when in person meetings do return, they will look a lot different.
"We have to live stream and we need a camera to video it, cleaning and marking, we have to have screens out in the lobby because the public will not be allowed into the council chambers. We will set up the delegation stand up in the doorway and we would have to maintain 6 foot spacing in the lobby and they can watch the council meeting on the live stream."
