Currently, public schools account for just under 1/3 of the active COVID-19 cases in Ontario.
Locally the TVDSB confirmed three new cases over the weekend at Glencoe Secondary School, Lord Elgin Public School and B. Davison Secondary school. Premier Doug Ford delivered the Throne Speech today, which focused on the economy. He did not mention additional supports for schools.
NDP Leader Andrea Horwath says that was a mistake.
"Today’s Speech from the Throne is disappointing for everyday families and working folks in Ontario. By announcing nothing new whatsoever to help patients, students, workers, or small business, Doug Ford made it clear again: he’s not here for you and he still doesn’t want to spend the money on you."
COVID-19 cases seem to be rising in children between the ages of 5-11.
