The outbreak has been declared on the 2 South in-patient unit and additional visitor restrictions are now in place at the hospital.
TILLSONBURG - A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on the 2 South in-patient unit.
The outbreak was declared today. Right now there are less than 5 patients involved in the outbreak who have tested positive. The patients and their families are being notified.
The hospital is working SWPH to implement enhanced precautions. This includes surveillance COVID testing of all inpatients, symptom monitoring of all staff working in the impacted area, additional visitor restrictions and admission restriction to the affected unit.
AHI/TDMH Interim President and CEO Mike Bastow says it is important that the community does not delay seeking care for any urgent or emergent needs.
"We want to reassure the public that our precautions, practices, and protocols to address COVID-19 within the hospital continue to be followed carefully. Our goal is to curb transmission within the hospital as well as protecting the health and safety of our community."
The Emergency Department remains open during the outbreak.
At this time only necessary visitors for compassionate grounds are permitted on the 2S inpatient unit.
Current visiting restrictions remain in effect for all other units in the hospital.
