More crashes, but fewer injuries. That's not the trend you would expect, but that's what has happened in the first six months of this year in Woodstock. City police are reporting out of 405 crashes in Woodstock so far this year there have been 28% fewer injuries, than the first six months of 2012 when there were 392 collisions. Police Chief Rod Freeman attributes the significant decrease to stepped up traffic enforcement leading to drivers slowing down. He notes speeding charges are up 5% this year, with nearly 1000 tickets dished out. But overall charges are up, and injuries are down, which is a formula that seems to be working towards meeting a goal of the city's Safe Communities campaign - to reduce the number of injuries suffered in car crashes. Here's a breakdown of the stats: Stats (JAN-JULY) 2012 2013 %Change Crashes 392 405 +3% Injuries 81 58 -28% Traffic Charges 1453 1714 +18% Speeding Charges 933 978 +5% Oth Traffic Charges 520 736 +41%
