One man suffered non life threatening injuries after a crash between a cyclist and a car this morning in Woodstock.
Police were called to the intersection of Dundas Street and Mill Street just after 6 a.m. today. After investigating police have charged the cyclist with Red Light Fail to stop under the Highway Traffic Act. He also had to go to the hospital where he was treated for non life threatening injuries. The intersection was closed for about two hours this morning to allow for the police investigation.
Constable Nikki Vanleeuwen says police are reminding cyclists to "be smart and ride defensively, to communicate and be visible, obey all traffic laws and always wear a helmet, riding against traffic is unsafe and be alert for potential dangers."
And she has this message for motorists "A bicycle is a vehicle too, follow and pass at a safe distance, check behind you before you open a door into traffic on either side and don't try to squeeze by a cyclist in a narrow lane."
