The new facility will create about 300 new jobs.
INGERSOLL - IMT Precision is receiving over $305 million from the federal government to create a new state of the art facility.
IMT creates shell cases, and this new location would focus on 155 milimetre projectiles while also creating about 300 new jobs.
Defence Minister David McGuinty made the announcement in Ingersoll yesterday. He said this is all part of a $1.4-billion investment from the newly created Canadian Defence Industry Resilience Program, with a goal of boosting Canada's supply of heavy artillery shells.
He said the funds would support new facilities in Ontario and Quebec, adding its a "deliberate step toward a more resilient, self-reliant future."
We invest today to secure tomorrow.
