The clocks will spring forward one hour on Sunday March 12th, so the Woodstock Fire Department is reminding everyone to check their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
WOODSTOCK - It's time for the clocks to spring forward!
Get ready for modern-day time travel as Daylight Saving Time begins this weekend. On Sunday March 12th don't forget to set your clocks ahead one hour.
Lisa Woods, Public Information Coordinator for the Woodstock Fire Department, says now is a good time to check smoke and CO2 alarms in your household.
"You want to make sure batteries in your smoke and CO alarms are as fresh and up to date as can be. Now is a good time to change them as we head into spring. You should have one smoke alarm on every level outside the sleeping areas. And a carbon monoxide alarm must be outside the bedroom areas, closest to where you sleep and can hear it at night."
Woods added if you need help checking and changing your alarms the Woodstock Fire Department has a service where they will send an officer to your home to assist.
Daylight Saving Time is observed in Canada (except Saskatchewan, Yukon and select parts of Quebec), the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Due to the change in clocks twice a year, there is one 23-hour day in early spring and one 25-hour day in the middle of autumn.
