Driver Rick Verberne is giving you the chance to see your name cross the line at Delaware Speedway - all you need to do is donate $2 to the Thames Valley Children's Centre
OTTERVILLE - You could see your name cross the finish line at Delaware Speedway.
Driver Rick Verberne has offered up his truck for a very special program. "This is a program we put together with the Children's Health Foundation. So what happens is people will donate a minimum of $2 and they can sign their name on our truck with a Sharpie and the proceeds will go to the Thames Valley Children's Centre."
Verberne says he was inspired when he attended the Teddy Bear Picnic for the Children's Health Foundation last year. He said seeing what those kids and parents go through on a daily basis made him want to give back to the community.
They hope to raise around $4 000 for the cause. "Lots of people like to donate just a little bit more than that $2, but we wanted to keep it down so young children could sign it, or big families. We're looking forward to getting the truck covered in signatures and people can follow our progress on Twitter," Verberne says.
The truck will be at Scotland Public School today, at the Children's Hospital for the Teddy Bear Picnic on June 9th, at Otterville Motors during the work week, and of course at the track on Friday race nights.
Verberne's Twitter handle is @RVerberne88 and he will be posting updates on the campaign as it continues.
