The proposed Ingersoll dog park has hit another bump in the road.
INGERSOLL -- Nearly 3 years after the idea of an off the leash dog park was proposed there is still no dog park in Ingersoll.
Town Council approved a site nearly a year ago for an area near John Lawson park. Since then, the chair of the dog park committee moved away and the project stalled. An estimated 30 to 40 thousand dollars in funds is required to create the dog park.
Director of Parks and Recreation for Ingersoll Bonnie Ward says there are other "circumstances," that the committee has not met in over a year.
Ward adds that the cost for the park is so expensive because of its location. "Because the property that was chosen is full of brush etcetera it would have to bush hogged and then fenced and then signed etcetera; so there was an estimated budget of about 30 to 40 thousand dollars."
The dog park committee had partnered with the Lions Club to raise the funds necessary for the park. Ward says anyone interested in getting on board or helping the fundraising efforts is encouraged to contact her.
