The Tillsonburg food bank has a long way to go before reaching its $5,000 fundraising goal by June 1st.
TILLSONBURG - The Helping Hand Food Bank is in need of more donations for its Spring Forward Give Back Campaign.
The online fundraiser was launched in early April in hopes of raising $5,000 before June 1st. It was pretty far from that goal as of this morning with only $55 raised.
The money raised from this fundraiser will help purchase food for the Tillsonburg Food Bank, and the $5,000 goal should cover it for a few months.
Coordinator Samantha Hamilton says they're seeing more and more families on a weekly basis.
"In a week we are seeing 90 to 100 families come through the door and they can come every two weeks, so that gives you an idea on how many families we're seeing in a month."
Donations can be made online here. You also donate cash or a cheque in person by visiting the food bank 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesdays and from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesdays.
Hamilton says monetary donations are preferred, but if you would like to donate food items, please make sure they are not expired. If it's something that you wouldn't want to eat yourself, you shouldn't donate it.
