Known as Cape Breton's first lady of song, Rita MacNeil has passed away at the age of 68. According to her website, the Canadian singer died Tuesday due to complications following surgery. During her career, MacNeil recorded 24 albums, won three Junos, numerous East Coast Music Awards, Country Music Awards and even a Gemini for her CBC variety show 'Rita & Friends'. Some of MacNeil's most popular pieces include "Working Man", "Flying On Your Own" and "I'll Accept The Rose Tonight".
