The City of Woodstock is making sure their residents know what to do in order to be prepared for an emergency.
WOODSTOCK - Emergency Preparedness Week is here.
The theme for the week is Plan for Every Season, and the City of Woodstock is making sure residents are aware of what to do. Public Information Coordinator with Woodstock Fire Services, Lisa Woods says no emergency is ever the same and people need to be ready.
"The emergency preparedness looks a little bit different in the summer than it does in the winter. We just want to make sure everyone thinks about those things in advance."
Woods says when packing a kit for the car, you will need different things in the winter than in the summer. She mentions you should also have a plan for your pets and extended family. Woods says knowledge can go a long way in helping people.
"We do have tornadoes happen, and we have power outages happen, so plan and know the risks in your area."
The Woodstock Fire Department is hosting an Emergency Preparedness Expo on this Saturday, May 11th at 645 Dundas St.
