Execulink Telecom is encouraging customers and everyone to take part in the first ever Coldest Night of the year emergency shelter fundraiser in Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK - Over 160 people on 33 teams have already signed up for the first ever Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser in Woodstock.
The event had to move online this year, because of the current stay at home orders. Execulink Telecom is supporting the event with a $500 donation and they're encouraging customers and others to take part on social media. Event organizer Scott McKague says he's blown away by the community and commercial support for the virtual event.
“As this was the first-ever Coldest Night Event in Oxford County, I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of community involvement, but I’ve been blown away! Even with the announcement earlier in January that we’d need to cancel the in-person group walk due to the lockdown, the number of people signing up and the amount of funds being donated hasn’t slowed at all. In fact, I think it’s gained in momentum since then!”
President and CEO of Execulink Telecom Ian Stevens explains why they wanted to show their support for the cause.
“We’re thrilled to be kicking off a new year of giving back to our local communities with the Coldest Night of the Year donation. Our service communities are also our homes. This is as simple for us as supporting our family in a time of need and we are delighted to be able to do so.”
Already the event has raised almost $30,000 and counting. You can sign up to walk or donate to the cause online here.
