A portion of the Pedestrian Trail Bridge has been closed. EZT decided after an engineering inspection it was unsafe.
UPDATE - A portion of a 9-kilometre trail in East Zorra-Tavistock is closed.
The Pedestrian Trail Bridge at Braemar Sideroad on the Hickson Trail was shut down due to safety concerns.
Mayor, Phil Schaefer says requests for bids to repair the bridge will be the first step, which will then become part of the budget deliberations.
"We're doing our budget in February, so it wouldn't be able to go out until after we do that."
Once the budget is complete, the next step would be figuring out a timeline with the company chosen to fix the bridge.
Schaefer says the closure adds a little bump in the road for trailgoers.
"There is still a fair bit of trail for people to use, but it is not a continuous thing that you can go from one end to the other because of that."
Schaefer hopes it can be fixed quickly.
