The streets will see more police as the 2025 Festive RIDE campaign gets underway across the West Region, including Oxford County.
WEST REGION - The annual Festive RIDE campaign is back for 2025.
OPP detachments across the West Region, including Oxford County, will conduct RIDE checks 24/7, beginning today, to ensure the streets are free of impaired drivers this holiday season. The OPP remain committed to ensuring Ontario roads are safe from alcohol and drug-impaired drivers. Drivers are reminded to do their part during the campaign by never driving after consuming alcohol or drugs and preventing others from driving if you know or suspect that they may be impaired.
The campaign will run until January 1st, 2026. So far in 2025, the Oxford OPP have laid 144 impaired driving charges, which is up from 2024 by 9. The West Region has also had 12 people lose their lives in collisions involving impaired drivers, compared to 11 deaths over the same time last year.
