You can eat a delicious hamburger from local restaurants and support United Way as well.
OXFORD COUNTY - United Way Oxford is introducing a delicious new fundraiser for November.
Resource Development Coordinator Megan Porter says they teamed up with eleven local restaurants for Novemburger.
"We are so excited about the opportunity to engage with our restaurant partners, people who are so supportive of us all of the time. Try a unique burger creation that they have for November, and $2 from each burger will support United Way Oxford."
She tells us about some of the specialty burgers.
"We've got a couple of bison burgers, we've got a beef and pork burger, and we also have a few places that will have a veggie option for their burger. At Boston Pizza, I know you can have a veggie option for their Texas Ranger."
But Porter says there is something special for burger enthusiasts.
"We also have a passport online that folks can either download or we will have some copies in the restaurants that are participating. If you stamp your passport with at least five Novemburgers eaten, you will enter for a chance to be a Novemburger Ambassador next year."
Eight ambassadors have been chosen for this year's campaign including Oxford County Warden Marcus Ryan, Woodstock Mayor Jerry Acchione, and Mike Crabbe who is the General Manager of the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce.
The ambassadors will be assigned to go to each of the participating restaurants and determine who will receive the Top Novemburger of the Year award at the end of the month. As an added plus, the ambassadors will be able to enjoy their Novemburger for free from the platinum restaurants.
The platinum restaurants are as follows:
- Boston Pizza (Woodstock)
- Brickhouse Brewpub (Woodstock)
- The Mill Eatery (Tillsonburg)
- The Charles Dicken's Pub (Woodstock)
- The Joker's Crown (Ingersoll)
- Chrissy's Catering (Tillsonburg)
The remaining participating locations are gold restaurants and they are as follows:
- Louie's Pizza and Pasta (Ingersoll)
- Ironworks Kitchen (Woodstock)
- Tempo Restaurant (Woodstock)
- Finkle Street Tap and Grill (Woodstock)
- Angela's Takeaway (Tillsonburg)
An award will be handed out to the restaurant that sells the most burgers this month. Three people's choice awards will also be distributed, which will be determined by general members of the public.
