PJHL Preview - Sept 18th to Sept 20th

It's the home opening weekend for the Tavistock Braves and the Thamesford Trojans.

PJHL - It's a big weekend for Oxford County's Junior C hockey teams.

Both the Tavistock Braves and the Thamesford Trojans will be hosting their home openers this weekend. The Braves will battle the New Hamburg Firebirds at the Tavistock and District Rec Centre at 7:30 p.m. tonight, and the Trojans will take on the Lucan Irish at the Thamesford Rec Centre at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The Norwich Merchants hosted their home opener at Nor-Del Arena last Friday, where they suffered a 4-1 loss to the Braves.

Looking at some of the other local PJHL games scheduled for this weekend, the Merchants will host the Paris Mounties at 8:00 p.m. tonight, and the Braves will visit the Dorchester Dolphins at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow night. The Merchants will also visit the Hespeler Shamrocks on Sunday with a 3:30 p.m. puck drop.

The Firebirds currently sit on top of the Doherty Division standings with four points. The Braves, the Mounties, the Wellesley Applejacks and the Dolphins are tied for second place with two points each, while the Shamrocks and the Merchants sit at the bottom of the standings with zero points so far.

The Trojans are currently sitting at the bottom of the Yeck Division standings alongside the Aylmer Spitfires, the Port Stanley Sailors, and the Irish. They all have zero points so far this season, while the Mount Brydges Bulldogs, Petrolia Flyers, and Exeter Hawks share second place with two points each. The North Middlesex Stars sit on top of the division standings with four points.
