A local sports coach and former Police Officer is running for Ingersoll's Town Council.
INGERSOLL - A retired Toronto Police officer is looking to enter Ingersoll's political scene.
Eric Berridge moved to the area with his wife last year, after dedicating 30 years to the force.
"I spent over half of my career in community based policing; which is actually talking to people, working with people and finding out things they feel they need to be successful. Sometimes you have to do things outside of the box."
Berridge would like to help stop the landfill as a town councillor.
"I want to work with the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor to stop that from happening. The proposed location is near the Thames River which could be an environmental risk and hazard."
He would also like to bring in more affordable apartments and a new hockey arena.
Berridge has immersed himself in the local sports community. He coached minor league baseball this past spring and summer. He is also going to host kid's hockey this winter.
