The actor was 54
"Friends" star Matthew Perry has died at the age of 54.
According to the Los Angeles Times and TMZ, the actor was found dead of an apparent drowning at his home.
Both media outlets cited unnamed sources.
Perry spent ten seasons on the show, playing the quick-witted Chandler Bing.
In his memoir, "Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing," he wrote about his struggles with addiction during his time on the show.
"Friends' was huge. I couldn't jeopardize that. I loved the script. I loved my co-actors. I loved the scripts. I loved everything about the show but I was struggling with my addictions which only added to my sense of shame. I had a secret and no one could know."
He received one Emmy nomination for his role on "Friends", as well as two for his work on "The West Wing."
"We are devastated to learn of Matthew Perry’s passing," says Warner Brothers Television Group, which produced "Friends." "He was a true gift to us all. Our heart goes out to his family, loved ones, and all of his fans."
He also had several well-known film roles, including "The Whole Nine Yards" with Bruce Willis and "Fools Rush In" with Salma Hayek.
