Ross Gerrie is looking to return to the council seat he occupied from 2006 to 2010.
WOODSTOCK - A former Woodstock city councillor would like to give local politics another go.
Ross Gerrie was on city council from 2006 to 2010. He ran for re-election back in 2014, but fell short by just a handful of votes.
If Gerrie is elected in this fall, he would like to have more industrial land ready for new development.
"It would certainly be beneficial to get more businesses in here; large, small or medium. If we don't have land stock shovel ready we're going to miss opportunities."
The Friendly City only has about 90 acres of land stock at the moment. The Woodstock Economic Development Commission has recommended we have at least 400 acres.
Outside of politics, Gerrie has been a very active volunteer for over 30 years.
"I've volunteered on a lot of boards. I volunteered with United Way for about nine years and was the President for one term. VASOC (Victims Assistance Services of Oxford County) I sit on that board. Woodstock Non-Profit Housing Canterbury and Kent, I sit on that board for non-profit housing. So I've been involved in the community for many years and I'd like to get back into it."
