The Expo showcases sustainability projects underway in the fields of economics, the environment, community, and more.
WOODSTOCK - The Future Oxford Expo will give residents in the county a chance to see what it going on in our own backyard.
'Sustainability' covers initiatives in the field of economics, environmental, and even community longevity.
CAO for Oxford County Peter Crockett says this is a great chance for everyone to get a look at where we could be heading in a few years. "Well they should be going because first of all it's exciting and it's a world of information about what's going on in Oxford County, and quite frankly it's about our future. It's about where we want to go, what we want to do, and all the things that are already going on to advance sustainability."
This is also an opportunity for people to learn about new causes they can support according to Crockett. "The number of community group, and partners, and advocates, and organizations that are doing various things - it's a great thing to see and a great thing to get a sense of what's going on in the community and from that get a sense of where you can A) get involved and B) what you can do to help move us towards that vision of sustainability."
There will be many different exhibitors on hand: The Dairy Capital Cheese Fest, Operation Sharing, Oxford Young Entrepreneurs, and OPAL as well as talks from renown speakers and a local cooking demonstration from Fairly Fat Guys.
Crockett says there will even be a chance for event goers to take a spin in a new car. "The Plug 'n Drive exhibit: we're going to have a couple of our own local vehicles on static display, but we'll also have Plug 'n Drive there with the 2016 Volt that people are able to take out for a test drive as part of the event. So it's going to be a great day."
The event is free and is happening at the Oxford Auditorium. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, and it all wraps up at 7 p.m. that night.
