You have until this Thursday to donate a gift of hope for someone at DASO.
WOODSTOCK - A Facebook group is looking to give the gift of hope to those living at Domestic Abuse Services Oxford this holiday season.
Melissa MacLean volunteers at DASO, helping residents with their financial literacy. She explains why she started the Christmas Cheer for Mom's & Kids: Gifts of Hope Facebook page last year.
"As it was coming closer to October last year, I just thought why don't we do a drive for these Moms and kids to try to make the holiday season a little more bright for them."
The campaign was a big hit, so she has joined forces with Crystal Tabor to bring it back this year.
MacLean explains how the campaign works.
"We have a Facebook group where we provide lists of Moms and kids with their age, whether they're male or female, and a list of wants and needs that they would like for Christmas."
The list differs for each person. One might include socks, diapers and winter boots, while another might have toys, clothes, and art supplies. Donations of gift cards to Walmart, Giant Tiger, or local gas stations are also appreciated.
All you have to do is sign up for a list, buy all of the items, and contact MacLean or Crystal Tabor so they can pick it up before the deadline of Thursday November 28th if you want to participate.
Melissa MacLean stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Thursday November 21st. You can listen to the full interview below:
