All employees and visitors at all GM facilities, including those at the CAMI Plant in Ingersoll, must be fully vaccinated starting December 12th.
INGERSOLL - GM Canada has introduced it's own vaccine mandate, requiring all of it's personnel to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
It's going to take effect on December 12th and it's going to impact employees and visitors at all GM facilities, including the CAMI Plant in Ingersoll.
The automaker issued the following statement yesterday.
"We are joining many other companies, from multiple sectors, supporting public-health initiatives to increase vaccination rates and further reduce the impact of COVID-19 across Canada. Vaccination has been shown to be effective in reducing the transmission of the virus as well as reducing the health impacts if a vaccinated person does contract the virus."
GM says exemptions and accommodations to the policy will be rare and they will be evaluated on an individual basis.
CAMI has been closed for most of the year due to a parts shortage, but it was just recently announced that about 60 percent of it's workforce will be back on the job in November and they're hoping to have everyone back in December. You can read more about that announcement online here.
