A GoFundMe page has been started for the family who lost their home to a fire on Main Street in Norwich over the weekend.
NORWICH - A GoFundMe page is looking to raise $5,000 for a Norwich family who recently lost their home in a fire.
Brad and Jackie Feyen and their two kids Savanna and Alex are currently staying with family members after their home on Main Street went up in flames on Saturday December 10th. Their friend Marian Schelhaas says they were not home when the fire broke out.
"They were actually picking up an item for her sister and they got a call from the neighbours. The neighbours had noticed the house was on fire because they heard the alarm and they called right away to see if they were home, but thankfully they were not home."
Schelhaas says they lost their three dogs and their cat in the blaze. The Feyens had been living in their home for about 30 years, so the money raised through the GoFundMe page will help replace some of the items that they lost including clothing, furniture, and Christmas presents.
She says the Feyens were already going through a tough time before the fire because Brad lost his job a few weeks prior. He had been employed by the same company in Tillsonburg for 30 years but lost his job when the company unexpectedly closed.
Schelhaas says the Feyens have never been the type to ask for help because they're always the ones helping others. That's why she would like everyone to step up and help them out during this difficult time.
"They have been through so much. They have always been known as the helpers and now it's our turn to make a difference in their lives."
